TARGET AUDIENCE:

CDA 2 Dental Assistants with 2 years work experience

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This 3 day course will help advance your training in anesthesia assisting . It consists
of online training, hands on training, 8 hr rotation of anesthesia cases.

Speakers:

Dr. Dana Evans-Semmel has received her dental degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of
Dental Medicine. She has been licensed dentist in North Carolina and Pennsylvania for 20 years. She has worked
both in private practice and as a faculty member at Cape Fear Community College. At CFCC, she has educated both
dental assistant and dental hygiene students through clinical and didactic courses. These courses have includedoral pathology, medical emergency management, local anesthesia, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and nitrous oxide certification.

 

She is a graduate of the CFCC Teachers Academy and completes annual training inteaching methodologies. In addition, she has provided continuing dental education to licensed dentists and hygienists through AHEC, the NC Dental Hygiene Association (NCDHA), and the Cape Fear Hygiene Association. She is a member of the ADA, ADHA, NCDS, Cape Fear Dental Study Club, and the NC Association of Dental Hygiene Educators (NCADHE). She is certified in BLS/CPR and ACLS. She is also an American Heart Association CPR Instructor. Dr. Evans is also a certified group fitness instructor with ASFA (American Sports & Fitness Association).

Learning Objectives:

To learn multiple tasks and monitoring of sedation in a dental setting.
